Fuel Flashcards
What is the total useable fuel capacity?
2574kg
What powers the auxiliary fuel pumps?
Venturi-type in which high pressure jet of motivating fuel is injected into the venturi throat to induce the pumping action.
What are the consequences of taking off with a FUELLING ON caution light?
Fuel transfer is not possible
What does TANK FUEL LOW caution indicate?
When the collector bay has less than 59kg of fuel. Could be caused by flapper valves being blocked or fuel leak.
What is the maximum fuel tank imbalance?
272kg
From what part of the fuel tank is fuel fed to the engines?
Collector Bay
What does the ENG. FUEL PRESS caution light indicate? What could cause this? What are the crew actions?
Less than 5.5psi of fuel being fed to the inlet side of the engine driven fuel pump. Could be caused by failure of the scavenge/venturi pump or a leak. Turn the Aux fuel pump on, check for leaks, shut down if leak’s confirmed.
What does the FUEL FILTER BYPASS caution indicate? What are the crew actions?
Impending bypass of the engine driven fuel pump filter. No crew action required. Monitor F/F, ITT and NH.
What would be the indication of an auxiliary pump failure?
Lack of green light
How many magna-sticks are in each tank?
2
What is the source of the ‘motive’ fuel flow to operate the boost and scavenge ejector pumps?
Excess engine fuel feed that is bypassed by the MFC and returned to the tank when above 40% NH.
When are the auxiliary pumps used?
Take-off and Landing, When fuel pressure is low (manual); Automatically used when transferring fuel (donor tank), pressure defuelling
How is engine fuel heated?
Hot engine lubricating oil passed through heat exchanger.
Which auxiliary pump is automatically turned on when transferring fuel?
Donor Tank’s Pump
Purpose of flapper valves on collector bay
Allows fuel in but not out
