What does it mean if a red discharge disc is missing from left wing root?
Thermal discharge indicator. Blown out by extinguishant escaping to atmosphere via a thermal relief plug on each bottle. (Thermal discharge of fire bottle)
What does it mean if the yellow discharge disc is missing from the left wing root?
System discharge indicator. It’s ejected in response to the pressure of extinguishant being released from either bottle through the discharge outlet ports (Discharge via the extinguishing system).
What type of fire detection and protection is available in the lavatory?
- A smoke detector provides visual and audible warnings.
- An automatic, heat activated, fire extinguisher is located in the lavatory garbage container compartment.
How many portable fire extinguishers are on board the aircraft?
At least 4 fire portable fire extinguishers are on board.
- 1 in the flight deck
- 1 in the galley emergency equipment cupboard (upper)
- 2 in the rear emergency equipment cupboard
How many smoke detectors are installed in the cargo compartment?
2 (roof and aft face)
What are the memory item drills for the SMOKE Master Warning?
- Oxygen Masks…..On/100%
- Smoke Goggles…..On
- Mic Switch…..Mask
- Recirc Fans…..Off
The fire loop responder units and control circuits are powered by what buses?
Essential Bus [Left essential DC Bus: No. 2 fire detector loop B/No. 1 fire detector loop A] [Right essential DC Bus: No. 1 fire detector loop B/No. 2 fire detector loop A]
How is a loop fault indicated?
Loop fault results in illumination of the appropriate loop fault warning light. 2 lights exist for each nacelle. A CHECK FIRE DET warning is also presented.
What are the cockpit indication of an engine fire?
- Both ENGINE FIRE - PRESS TO RESET master fire warning lights illuminate
- One of two pull fuel off handles on the fire protection panel illuminates
- CHECK FIRE DET warning
- Master Warning
- Fire bell.
What are the cockpit indications during an engine fire test?
Can test one engine at a time.
- MASTER WARNING flashing
- CHECK FIRE DET warning
- Both ENGINE FIRE lights flashing
- FUEL OFF handle light
- FAULT A and B lights
- Fire bell rings
Will the ‘Check Fire Detect’ warning flight illuminate when a loop fault is detected?
Yes
During flight, you notice the “FAULT B” light has illuminated, QRH action will require?
Loop Select Knob …….. Set to non-illuminated fault position
So Set Loop Selection to A
Three things that happen when the fire “T” is pulled:
- Closes fuel (Lights) and hydraulic shut-off valves
- Arms Estinguisher System
- Turns on Extinguisher Arm Lights
What do the amber fire bottle lights indicate?
That the squib is charged, armed and ready to be fired.
