germanys plan to stage a two-front plan to fend off Russia in the east while defeating France in the west (plan failed)
what is no mans land?
waste land of corpses, barbed wire, and mud - the area between the trenches of two opposing forces
what is the definition of stalemate?
a situation in which further action by opposing sides seems impossible

developed in the early 20th century - machine guns, aircrafts, etc.
what is a war of attrition?
a strategy where groups of soldiers would run through the trenches would go “over the top” - exhaust enemies “man power” / resources before yours - many were killed by machine guns - trenches were successfully taken when armoured tanks developed
