슬기가 체육시간에 너무 많이 달리더니 다음 수업을 들을 수 없었어요

In the first sentence, the speaker did not neccessarily witness 슬기 running themselves, but in the second they did.

(Imagine that in the first sentence using 아/어서 , the Seulgi’s parents are explaining Seulgi’s absence - they didn’t see her running themselves. Imagine in the second sentence using -더니, the speaker is the P.E teacher explaining Seulgi’s absence)
