No. with -더니 the subject is typically not the first person
Is the following sentence correct?
내가 열심히 공부를 했더니 성적이 올랐다.
Yes. 았/었더니 is used to talk about one’s own experiences.
Is the following sentence correct?
내 동생은 수영을 하더니 식욕이 왕성해졌다.
Yes. -더니 is used to talk about witnessing/hearing something about someone/something else and then a result that follows.

What’s the difference between these two sentences?

슬기가 체육시간에 너무 많이 달리더니 다음 수업을 들을 수 없었어요
In the first sentence, the speaker did not neccessarily witness 슬기 running themselves, but in the second they did.
(Imagine that in the first sentence using 아/어서 , the Seulgi’s parents are explaining Seulgi’s absence - they didn’t see her running themselves. Imagine in the second sentence using -더니, the speaker is the P.E teacher explaining Seulgi’s absence)
