Vspeeds Technical Flashcards
What will be the effect if an engine failure were to occur below Vmcg?
Vmcg is the minimum controllable speed on the ground, where aerodynamic control is still sufficient to control the aircraft.
If an engine failure were to occur below this speed, maintaining directional control using aerodynamic control surfaces will not be possible.
Does the required Vmcg speed increase or decrease with higher air density?
Since the thrust moment will be greater due to the increased air density, the required rudder control will also increase. Thus, to have more air flowing over the rudder to accommodate for this increased yaw moment, Vmcg will have to be increased.
For SACAA exam purposes, the factors affecting Vmca is the same as?
