A
Membranous septum - most common
Muscular septum

What are the indications for a surgical VSD closure? (5)
A
- Significant left to right shunt
- Endocarditis
- AR due to prolapse of the aortic valve leaflets through the deflect
- LV dysfunction
- Acute muscular rupture e.g. MI

What needs to be thought about when draining an infected abscess in the heart?
A
- Prophylactic antibiotics
- Anticoagulation
- Polycythemia with increased haematocrit

- Right ventricular failure
- Parodoxycal embolism
