VPT Flashcards
Direct pulp cap:
• MTA has a higher success rate and results in less pulpal inflammatory response and more predictable hard dentin bridge formation than CH.
• MTA appears to be a suitable replacement of CH used for direct pulp capping.
Li et al 2015 (meta-analysis)
The purpose of caoh treatment in young traumatized teeth is to achieve periodontal healing and formation of an apical HT barrier, against which a permanent RF can be placed.
Cvek 1992
Systematic and meta-analysis: apical closure via caoh and MTA apical barrier technique had similar clinical success
Chala 2011
similar outcomes for both treatment modalities (REG and apexification – CH/MTA), suggesting that REPs could be considered as a first treatment option in the treatment of immature teeth with pulp necrosis.
