A

-BMBT (greater than 4 minutes)
-Positive ELISA
-DNA confirmation of gene defect
-Low level of vWF in plasma

Treatment of von Willebrand’s Disease

A
  1. Manage bleeding episodes with plasma or cryoprecipitate
  2. Desmopressin acetate can be used to control bleeding during surgery
    (lasts 2 hours and increases factor VIII)
