What are the common causes of vomiting in childhood?
- Gastroenteritis
- URTI
- Food poisoning
Other causes of vomiting that are non viral?
- Hydrocephalus
- Raised intracranial pressure
- Meningitis
- Intestinal-malrotation, hirschsprungs disease, volvulus
What does early morning vomiting indicate?
Raised intracranial pressure
What does vomiting undirected point to?
Achalasia or oesophageal strictures
What does blood stained vomiting mean?
That there may be
- gastric varices
- oesophagitis
Which drugs may cause vomiting and that are toxic?
Theophylline
What is gastro-oesophageal reflux?
It is passing of gastric contents into the oesophagus due to the relaxation of the lower oesophageal sphincter
What are the complications of gerd?
Oesophagitis, Aspiration pneumonia , dental erosions
