How do children with diabetes typically present?
- Polydypsia(thirsty)
- Polyuria(peeing a lot)
- Polyphagia (loss of weight even with increased appetite)
- Enuresis (bed wetting)
What are other symptoms of diabetes 1 in children?
- Irritability and fatigue
- Recurrent skin infections
- Abdominal pain
- Candida vaginitis
How is DM1 diagnosed?
With venous blood glucose test
- Random blood glucose >11,1 mmol/l
- Fasting blood glucose >7mmol/l
What are the early signs of diabetic keto acidosis?
- Polydypsia
- Polyuria
- Loss of weight-increased appetite
- WITH DEHYDRATION
What are some of the late signs of diabetic ketoacidosis?
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Loss of consciousness
What do you put on the medical bracelet?
Diabetes, if child is confused give sugar
What are the autonomic symptoms?
- Tachycardia
- Nausea
- Hungry
- Sweating
Neuro-glycopenic symptoms
- Tired

Why cant blood glucose go below <3,5 mmol?
