Domestic disputes involving sworn members of other agencies
Officers responding to disputes involving sworn members from other law enforcement agencies that does not involve violence/assault shall request the presence of a supervisor and complete incident report by the end of shift. SIRT is not necessary.
Domestic disputes involving dept employees.
Officers responding to a domestic dispute involving dept employees that does not involve violence/assault shall request he presence of a supervisor and complete an incident report by the end of shift. Notif to SIRT is not necessary.
Domestic VIOLENCE involving dept employees.
Officers shall determine if there are allegations or evidence of physical assault. If so… Officer shall
- Request supervisor to scene
- Secure any departmental firearms
- Make arrest if probable cause exists and remove privately owned firearms observed on scene.
- Complete incident report by end of shift.
Domestic VIOLENCE involving sworn members of other agencies.
Officers responding to the scene of domestic violence or violation of protective order involving sworn members of other law enforcement agencies shall determine for there are allegations or evidence of physical assault. If so… The officer shall
- Request supervisor to scene
- Make arrest if probable cause exists and remove privately own firearms observed on scene.
- Complete incident report by the end of shift.
Issuance of court criminal/civil orders against employees
An employee shall immediately notify their commander when they have been:
- Arrested
- Charged with a crime on a statement of charges, criminal information or indictment
- Charged with any traffic violation mandating a court appearance
- Served with a warrant, criminal summons, or protective order.
Same applies is the employee is charged or served in connection with similar offenses alleged outside the state of Maryland.
Notification is also required of an employee who is aware that a warrant, criminal summons or protective order is on file but not yet served.
Responses to violations of protective orders
A PGPD officer that is served with a protective order will notify their commander. Commander shall immediately notify SIRT.
Officers responding for a report of violation of protective order members of other agencies shall:
- Confirm that the employee is in violation of the order.
- If so, the officer shall make a full custody arrest and notify their shift supervisor.
