Fortune 500 Company
A meeting between an employee who is leaving the company and a company representative
Exit Interview
A letter sent to a potential employer that states your interest in a job, provides general information about you and sells your skills, transmits your resume, and requests an interview
Letter of Application
A website that allows you to browse job listings and sometimes to post your resume and allows employers to post job openings and review resumes
Job Board
A software program that automatically searches job listings and retrieves jobs matching criteria you select
Job Agent
A concise statement of your background, education, skills, and work experience
Resume
The process of gathering information about an applicant prior to a formal in-person interview
Prescreening
A compilation of samples of your work and other career related information.
Portfolio
Money set aside that is taxed when contributions are made.
Roth IRA
A job search that involves applying at many organizations with job openings that match your career goals
Traditional Job Search
A job search that involves targeting companies where you wish to work rather than specific positions
Targeted Job Search
The four process colors and the standard for most traditional printing processes resulting in a tangible piece. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (Black)
CMYK
A printed image that extends beyond one or more of the finished page margins and is later trimmed so the image “bleeds” off the edge of the sheet
Bleed (In design)
Performed on printed material after printing. Involves additional decorative actions such as die stamping and embossing.
Finishing
A graphic and page layout file format for desktop computers. used to transfer documents between different applications and computer platforms.
TIFF (AKA Tag Image File Format)
Smallest point or dot on a computer monitor or in a picture. Measured in dots per inch.
Pixel (AKA Picture Element)
Basic unit of measurement in typography. One _ equals 12 points and 6 _ equal approximately 1 inch.
Pica
Refined hard-copy thumbnails created using a computer.
Comprehensive Sketches (aka Comps)
The portion of a lowercase letter that goes above the the main body of the letter (e.g., b, d, f, h, k l , t)
Ascender
The positioning/arrangement of lines of text or an image. Can be left, right, centered or justified.
Alignment
The portion of the lowercase letter that falls below the baseline. (e.g., g, j, p, q, y)
Descender
Lines drawn or printed on a photograph, or printed product to indicate the proper cropping of the image or print in question.
Crop Marks
Occurs when two elements are noticeably different.
Contrast
A document with four pages. You can obtain this fold by folding the paper in half vertically or horizontally.
