Protects against LDL and polyunsaturated fat oxidation

Sunflower oil, wheat germ, soybean, corn oil, meat, nuts, cereal, fruits, and vegetables

When does Vitamin E (Tocopherol) deficiency occur?
A
In severe and prolonged malabsorptive cases

How does Vitmain E (Tocopherol) deficiency present?
A
Peripheral neuropathy, skeletal myopathy, pigment retinopathy
May have favorable effects in NASH
TOXICITY: Can affect platelet aggregation (watch with Coumadin)

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) deficiency treatment
A
Alpha Tocopherol 800-1200mg po/day or
Vitamin E 15mg/dl for adults
