When do respiratory changes occur?

A

Occur when the respiratory centres receives information from:

  • stretch receptors in the lung
  • chemoreceptors in the aortic arch and carotid arteries that monitor oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood

Internal respiration - measurement of CO2 from cells into blood and movement of O2 into blood cells.
