Insert to outer cartilaginous part of external auditory
Do not advance to bony interior part
What is strabismus?
Cross eyed, caused by weak eye muscle
What do you teach for retinal detatchment surgery?
avoid intraocular pressure
report any sudden flashes of light
avoid reading writing
wear an eye patch or shield
What are contraindications from cataract surgery?
Avoid activities to increase IOP such as constipation, avoid lifting, sneezing, coughing, or straining.
What should nurse encourage for cataract surgery diet?
Increase fluids and fiber, stool softener.
How long is antibiotics suppose to go for to relieve AOM?
48-72, Must see doctor immediately
When can iron be taken?
On an empty stomach, milk decreases absorption
What is contraindicated when taking anticholinergics?
Taking it with increase intraocular pressure like closed-angle glaucoma, Urinary retention / BPH, bowel obstruction.
What is primary open angle glaucoma?
Tunnel vision
What does macular generation look like?
Loss of central vision
How does a cataract look like
Cloudiness, blurry vision. Glare, worse at night.
