Vision: Sensory and Perceptual Processing Flashcards
What are the characteristics of the energy that we see as visible light?
What structures in the eye help focus that energy?
Wavelength = Hue
(Distance from one peak to another)
Amplitude = Intensity
(Height of wave)
Cornea: which bends light to help provide focus
Pupil: a small adjustable opening.
Iris: surrounding the pupil colored muscle that dilates or constricts in response to light intensity.
Responds to your cognitive and emotional states.
Lens: focuses the light rays into an image on your retina
To focus the rays, the lens changes its curvature and thickness in a process called accommodation
(Lens changes shape to focus near or far away objects onto retina
Eg. myopia when lens focuses rays on point in front of the retina, meaning easier to see close and hard for distant)
How do the rods and cones process information, and what is the path information travels from the eye to the brain?
