decompression drill - what
an emergency situation when the aircraft cabin loses pressure and makes it difficult for crew/passangers to breath
decompression drill notes
flight crew pa: “attention cabin crew emergency descent”
note: this PA may or may not be received as the first step and is only indicative of a procedural step. crew must commence this drill on any indications of a depressurization.
decompression drill steps
1: masks deploy: fit nearest oxygen mask
masks have not deployed
2: secure yourself in nearest seat
3: flight crew PA: “cabin crew carry out follow up duties”
4: transfer to portable oxygen bottle - if required
5: assist crew/passengers
6: assess cabin
7: report to CM/CSM/PIC
emergency cabin preparation drill
an emergency cabin preperation drill is required when the PIC decides that there is a problem with the aircraft that might result in an evacuation after landing
emergency cabin preparation drill steps
- CM/CMS receives instructions from PIC
- brief cabin crew
- emergency announcements
4, select and brief able bodied passengers - prepare passengers and cabin
- report “cabin prepared”
- receive warning from pilot-in-command
- occupy seat
- brace
land impact drill
the land impact drill is used during an evacuation on the ground
land impact drill steps
- as directed by captain,commence evacuation commands
- check exit safe to open
- open exit
- ensure correct inflation
- direct passengers - conduct visual check
- take torch, check your area, assist other areas
- ensure survival equipment taken
- evacuate
- assist on ground
ditch impact drill
the ditch impact drill is used during an evacuation on the water
ditch impact drill steps
- commence initial ditching commands - fit life jackets
- check exit safe to open
- open exit
- ensure correct inflation
- order evacuation
- direct passengers - conduct visual check
- take torch, check your area, assist other areas
- ensure survival equipment taken
- evacuate
