What is NFA-VPS?
catogory of meds for non-food animals that can be supplied by a vet surgeon, a pharamcist or suitably qualified person. A written prescription is nor required but these meds should not be accessible by the public in phramacy.
What is POM-V?
Precription only med that can only be prescribed by a vet surgeon and supplied by a vet surgeon or a pharamcisr with a written prescription
What is POM-VPS?
precription only meds that can be prescribed and supplied by a vet surgeon, a pharmacist or a suitably qualified person on an oral or written prescription. a written precription is only required if the suplier is not a prescriber
what is AVM-GSL?
an authorised vetinary prescription that is available on general sale
What are the requirments for a vet prescription?
The prescription must include:
* The name, address and telephone number of the person prescribing the product * The qualifications of the person prescribing the product; * The name and address of the owner or keeper; * The identification and species of the animal or group of animals to be treated; * The premises at which the animals are kept if different from that of the owner or keeper * The date of the prescription; * The signature of the prescriber * The name and quantity of the product prescribed; * The dosage and administration instructions (the dose must be stated, a dose of ‘as directed’ is not acceptable); * Any necessary warnings; and * The withdrawal period if relevant. * If it is prescribed under the cascade, a statement to that effect
labelling on vet precription
- Name and address of the dispensing pharmacy
- Name of vet
- Name and address of the animal owner
- Identification of animal (including species)
- Date of supply and expiry date
- Name or description of the product
- Dose and administration instruction
- Any special storage precautions
- Necessary warning and withdrawal period
- The words “keep out of the reach and sigh of children” and “For animal treatment only”
