What are repeatable prescriptions?
private prescriptions that can be dispensed more than once. eg: repeat x5
if a number is not stated on a repeatable prescription how many times can it be repeated?
repeated once (dispensed twice) but if it is for a oral contraceptive it can be repeated 5 times (dispensed 6 times)
Are schedule 2&3 CDs repeatable?
No, but sch 4&5 are
Is there a time limit to dispensing repeats for POM and sch 5?
the first repeat should be made within the first 6 months of the appropriate date, following which there is no legal tine for the remaining repeats
Is there a time limit to dispensing repeats for sch 4?
Sch 4 are valid for 28 days after appropriate date, ollowing which there is no legal tine for the remaining repeats
Can pts choose to have repeast from diffrent pharamcies?
Yes, and they can retain the prescription. to maintain an audit trail mark the name and address of the pharmacy from where supply has been made and date of supply.
What is the validity of owings for POM and Sch 5 prescriptions?
6 months from appropriate date
What is the validity of owings for sch 2,3 and 4 CDs?
28 days
How many years should private prescriptions for a POM and sch 2&3 be retained for?
2 years from date of supply or for repeatable prescriptions from the date of the last supply or sale
