Vetebral Muscle Flashcards
What are hypaxial muscles?
ventral muscles - arms and legs, abdominal walls, intercostal muscles, found on back but don’t move back
What is epaxial muscles?
dorsal muscles - move vertebral column
What is the position of minor muscles in relation to major muscles?
Minor muscles are almost always on top of major muscles
What are intrinsic muscles?
true back muscles (they move the back); superficial, intermediate, deep
What is splenius capitas?
bandage shaped muscle that attached to the head from the spine
What is illiocostalis?
most lateral spinal back muscle (have sections lumborum, thoracis, cervis)
What is longissimus?
second most lateral spinal back muscle (have sections lumborum, thoracis, cervis)
What is spinalis?
third most lateral spinal back muscle (have sections lumborum, thoracis, cervis)
What is the erector spinae group?
contain iliocostalis, longissimus, spinalis in intermediate layer
What are the parts of the deep layer?
transversospinales and segmental group
What is transversopinales made of?
semispinalis (thoracis, cervicis, capitas)
multifidus (spans 3 vertebrae)
rotatores (longus and brevis)
