1st thoracic vertebrae

A
  • Has concave upper surface from side to side and it resembles a cervical vertebra.
  • Lower surface of the lateral side has a demi-facet similar to those of the typical cervical vertebrae. Spinous process projects slightly downwards.

  • larger than TV and they don’t have facets for articulations with the ribs.
  • The body is elliptical in shape with the long axis lying transversely.
  • The bodies are larger than those of cervical and thoracic vertebrae.

  • Neural arc has thick and short pedicles.
  • Laminae are broad bars of bone which runs backwards and medially.
