1
Q
Thoracic vertebrae
A
- form the posterior part of the body cage of the thorax.
- There are 12 thoracic vertebrae
- Body typically heart shaped.
2
Q
1st thoracic vertebrae
A
- Has concave upper surface from side to side and it resembles a cervical vertebra.
- Lower surface of the lateral side has a demi-facet similar to those of the typical cervical vertebrae. Spinous process projects slightly downwards.
3
Q
9th thoracic vertebrae
A
- No demi-facet on the lower lateral surface of it’s body.
4
Q
10th thoracic vertebrae
A
- large oval facet on each side of the body which extends to the root of the pedicles.
5
Q
11th thoracic vertebrae
A
- Single complete facet on each side which extends to the pedicle and there are no articular facets on the transverse processes.
6
Q
12th thoracic vertebrae
A
- Complete facet on either side mainly on the pedicle.
- Shape of body, transverse processes resembles of the 1st lumbar vertebrae.
- No articular facets on transverse processes
7
Q
The Lumbar vertebrae
A
- larger than TV and they don’t have facets for articulations with the ribs.
- The body is elliptical in shape with the long axis lying transversely.
- The bodies are larger than those of cervical and thoracic vertebrae.
8
Q
5th lumbar vertebrae
A
- Large height, than the other four lumbar vertebrae.
- Neural arc has thick and short pedicles.
- Laminae are broad bars of bone which runs backwards and medially.
9
Q
The sacrum
A
- Composed of 5 vertebrae which are completely fused into single unit in adults.
10
Q
