Ventral Muscles of the Pectoral Girdle Flashcards
What is the origin of pectoralis major?
Clavicular head: anterior surface of medial 1/2 clavicle
Sternocostal head: anterior sternum, first 7 costal cartlidges, sternal end of 6th rib, aponeurosis of external oblique
What is the insertion of pectoralis major?
Lateral lip of the intertubercular sulcus
What is the innervation of pec major?
Medial and lateral pectoral nerves (Clavicular: C5, C6)
Sternocostal: C8, T1
What is the action of pec major?
Flexion and adduction.
Clavicular: FLEXION of extended arm
Sternocostal: EXTENSION of flexed arm
What is the origin of pec minor?
Anterior surface of ribs 3 -5, and the deep fascia overlying the intervening intercostal muscles.
What is the insertion of pec minor?
Coracoid process of the scapula
What is the innervation of pec minor?
Medial pectoral nerve (C8, T1)
What is the action of pec minor?
Protracts scapula
What is the origin of serratus anterior?
Lateral surface of upper 8-9 ribs and the deep fascia overlying the intervening intercostal spaces
What is the insertion of serratus anterior?
Costal surface of the medial border of the scapula
What is the origin of subclavus?
First rib and junction between rib and costal cartilage
What is the insertion of subclavius?
Groove on inferior surface of the middle 1/3 of clavicle
What is the innervation of subclavius?
Subclavian Nerve C5, C6
What is the action of subclavius?
Pulls tip of shoulder down, protracts scapula
What is the innervation of serratus anterior?
Long Thoracic Nerve (C5, C6, C7)
