Intermediate/Deep flexors of forearm Flashcards
Where does flexor digitorum superficialis originate?
Medial epicondyle
Where does flexor digitorum superficialis insert?
Tendon splits to pass around tendon of FDP and inserts onto the middle phalanx of each finger
What is the innervation of flexor digitorum superficialis?
Median Nerve C7, C8, T1
What is the origin of flexor digitorum profundus?
Anterior and medial surfaces of the ulna and interosseous membrane.
What is the insertion of flexor digitorum profundus?
Palmar surface of the distal phalanx of digits II-V
What is the innervation of flexor DP
Medial part: Ulnar nerve (C8, T1)
Lateral part: anterior interosseous branch of median nerve (C8, T1)
What is the action of FDP
Flexes distal phalanges at distal interphalangeal joints of medial four digits, assists with flexion of hand
What is the origin of flexor pollicis longus?
Proximal 3/4 of medial and anterior surfaces of the radius and the radial half of the interosseous membrane
What is the insertion of flexor pollicis longus?
Base of distal phalanx of thumb
What is the innervation of flexor pollicis longus?
Anterior interosseous nerve from median nerve (C8, T1)
What is the action of flexor pollicis longus?
Flexes phalanges of 1st digit
What is the origin of pronator quadratus?
Distal 1/4 of anterior/medial surface of ulna
What is the insertion of pronator quadratus?
Distal 1/4 of anterior surface of radius
What is the innervation of pronator quadratus?
Anterior interosseous nerve from median nerve (C8, T1)
What is the action of pronator quadratus?
Pronates forearm, deep fibres bind radius and ulna together
