Mech of action
Nicotinic ACh R-antagonist > competes with ACh at neuromuscular junction and prevents binding thus inhibiting skeletal muscle depolarization

Non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocker

Onset- <1minute
Peak- 3-5 minutes
Duration- 30-80 minutes
HL- 30-80 minutes
Indications
Need for temporary paralysis to facilitate endotracheal intubation
Need for continued paralysis following endotracheal intubation
Contraindicatons
Hypersensitivity
Side effects
Bradycardia, hypotension
Dose
Adult- 0.08-0.1 mg/kg IV, IO
Pedi- 0.1 mg/kg IV, IO
Precautions
Presence of neuromuscular diseases may be associated with prolonged paralysis
Drug - Drug
Potentiated by lidocaine, procainamide, B blockers, mag sulfate, and other neuromuscular blockers
