- Regulates the circulation and systemic blood
- Associated with inhalation
- Associated with Anahata Chakra

APANA VAYU
FUNCTION
• Responsible for elimination of waste products
through lungs and excretory systems
• Associated with exhalation and our sensation of
being grounded and present
- Governs downward and outward movement
- Connected to Muladhara Chakra
- Strengthened through Pada Bandha

LOCATION
Connected to pelvis and lower limbs
UDANA VAYU
LOCATION
Seated in the throat and carried into the head

FUNCTION
- Responsible for producing sounds through the vocal apparatus – singing, laughing, crying
- Responsible for sound, communication, sight, hearing, sleep, hormones, muscle function, tissue repair, thyroid function and hormone production of the pineal and pituitary glands
- Correlates with Visuddha, Ajna & Sahasrara Chakras

Seated in the navel and correlates with the abdomen

- Responsible for digestion and cell metabolism

• Supported by Uddiyana Bandha, kapalbhati
