Vasculature And Innervation Of The Abdomen Flashcards
What are the three unpaired arteries that branch off of the abdominal aorta?
Celiac artery
Cranial mesenteric artery
Caudal mesenteric artery
What does the celiac artery supply?
Esophagus, liver, stomach, lesser/greater omentum, spleen, duodenum and pancreas
What are the three branches off of the celiac artery?
Left gastric a.
Hepatic a.
Splenic a.
What is the left gastric a. found?
Lesser curvature of the stomach
What artery does the splenic artery turn into after making a āuā turn?
Left gastroepiploic a.
What is the largest branch of the celiac artery and what does it give off?
Hepatic artery
Continues towards the right to give off the right gastric a.
Gastroduodenal is the terminal portion of the hepatic artery and will give off the right gastroepiploic artery and the cranial pancreaticoduodenal artery
What unpaired artery is also referred to as the axis of the root of the mesentary?
Cranial mesenteric artery
What are the six branches of the cranial mesenteric artery?
Middle colic Right colic Ileocolic Caudal pancreaticoduodenal Jejunal Ileal
What does the middle colic artery supply?
The transverse and descending colon and the left colic flexure
What does the right colic artery supply?
The transverse colon and distal part of the ascending colon
What are the three parts of the ileocolic artery?
Colic branch: supply proximal part of the ascending colon, combines with the right colic
Cecal branch: supplies the cecum, anti mesenteric ileal branch is the termination of this branch
Mesenteric ileal artery: continuation of the ileocolic artery after giving off the cecal branch and combines with the last jejunal artery
What does the caudal pancreaticoduodenal artery supply?
The right lobe of the pancreas and the descending duodenum
What re the branches off of the caudal mesenteric artery and what does it supply?
Left colic artery: supplies the descending colon
Cranial rectal artery: supplies the cranial portion of the rectum
What are the six paired vessels of the abdominal aorta?
Lumbar arteries Deep circumflex arteries Phrenicoabdominal arteries Renal arteries Testicular arteries Ovarian arteries
What are the branches off of the phrenicoabdominal arteries?
Cranial abdominal and caudal phrenic artery
