name and describe the 3 types of epithelial cells?
squamous-flat and very thin, found lining surfaces like lung airways
cuboidal-cube shaped, found in tissues that secrete/ absorb substances like glands
columnar-long and thin, found in places that secrete mucus like the stomach
what do you call epithelial cells in several layers?
stratified
what is connective tissue?
its tissue with no blood supply/ highly vascularised with blood vessles.
its found throughout the body and is highly diverse.
some of its major functions are to support, protect, insulate, storage of fuel, transport of substances.
what is connective tissue made up of?
ground substance, fibres and cells
