Pathogenesis of varicella-zoster virus
*MOT through respiratory droplets
Primary infection in the mucosa of the respiratory tract and spreads through the bloodstream and lymphatic system . Then spreads throughout the body and skin
Clinical manifestations of the varicella-zoster virus
> Chicken pox: vesicular rash and fever, lymphadenopathy
*Latency in dorsal root, reactivation causes virion transport down sensory nerve
> Severe complications
*viral pneumonia, encephalitis, and hemorrhagic chickenpox
How is the HHV 3 diagnosed
*Clinically, PCR, Serology, IgG will show past infections and IgM will show recent infection
How is the HHV 3 treated
*Acyclovir accelerates resolution, valacyclovir, and famciclovir
