what are clinical manifestations of varicella?
A
rash
1. macules start at the center of the trunk and then spread to face and extremities which eventually scab over

when will scabs starting forming and what does this mean?
A
scabs will start appearing in 1 week and this means that they are no longer contagious BUT the child has to wait until every scab has crusted over before they can go into the general public

what symptomatic treatments can be given for this patient with varicella?
A
- no aspirin because of complication of reye’s syndrome
- oatmeal baths and baking soda baths
- caldarella ointment
- it will spread if they scratch it so keep their fingernails short and wear mittens if needed
