What is external validity?
Refers to the extent to which the findings of a study can be generalised.
What is ecological validity?
Refers to the extent to which the results and conclusions can be generalised to real life.
What is population validity?
Refers to the extent to which the sample can be generalised to similar + wider populations.
What is temporal validity?
Extent to which the findings and conclusions of study are valid over time.
What is internal validity?
The extent to which the observed results represent the truth in the population we are studying and are not due to methodological errors.
-E.g. using a stopwatch to test reaction time.
What is face validity?
Extent to which a study appears to measure what it claims to measure.
