What are advantages of questionnaire?
- Easily distributed.
* Respondents may be willing to ‘open up’.
What are disadvantages of questionnaires?
- Responses not always truth.
* Response bias.
What are structured interviews?
•List of pre-determined questions asked in a fixed order.
What are advantages of structured interviews?
•Easily to replicate.
What are disadvantages of structured interviews?
•Interviewees cannot elaborate.
What are unstructured interview?
There are no set questions. There is a general topic to be discussed.
What are advantages of unstructured interview?
•Greater flexibility.
What are disadvantages of unstructured interview?
•Difficult to replicate.
What are closed questions?
Respondent has limited choices.
What are advantages of closed questions?
Easier to analyse. Can produce graphs.
What are disadvantages of closed questions?
Respondents are restricted. Forced to answer that may not represent feelings. Validity problems.
What are open questions?
Respondents provide their own answers expressed in words. Data are qualitative.
What are advantages of open questions?
Respondents not restricted. Provide detailed info. More validity than stats.
What are disadvantages of open questions?
Difficult to analyse. Less quantitive data produced.
