Very rare
What are vaginal tumours most commonly due to?
Metastatic spread from cervical, uterine or vulval cancers
Of the true primary vaginal cancers, most are what in origin?
Squamous
Who do primary vaginal cancers typically present in?
Older women
Association with previous CIN, pelvic radiotherapy, long term vaginal inflammation
What part of the vagina do they typically occur in?
Upper third
How does it present?
Bleeding
What is vaginal clear cell adenocarcinoma associated with?
Intrauterine exposure to diethylstilboestrol before 18w gestation (DES)
How is it treated?
Usually radiotherapy
What is the prognosis?
Poor
58% 5 year survival for squamous vaginal carcinoma
34% for adenocarcinoma
