Definition of vacuum forming
Vacuum forming is a simplified version of thermoforming. Thermoforming is the heating of thermoplastic material and shaping it in a mould.
How does vacuum forming work
It happens when a sheet of plastic is heated to a particular temperature and then stretched onto a single surface mould and forced against the mold by a vacuum forming machine.
What type of plastic is used in vacuum forming
ABS sheets of a vacuum forming grade are the most common used but you can also use High Impact Polystyrene sheets and lastly PETG sheets are all available to use and are supplied in a extensive range of sheet sizes and different ways you would like it to your specification
What products can be made by vacuum forming
The most familiar products made using vacuum forming include baths, sinks and open plastic containers, food packaging/ containers for food, pages of braille text, car parts and electrical components.
