Injection Moulding Flashcards
What is injection moulding
Injection moulding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting material into a specific mould of different types and sizes.
How does injection moulding work
Material for the specific part is fed into a heated barrel of mixture and mixed throughly and forced into a mould shape where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the of the needed mould and its exact specifics.
What type of plastic is used in injection moulding
The plastic injection moulding process produces large numbers of parts of high quality with great accuracy in a fast time. Plastic material in the form of ‘granules’ is melted until soft enough to be injected under pressure to fill a chosen mould. The result is that the shape is exactly copied to every exact specification
What types of materials can be used in injection moulding
