Compension Moulding Flashcards
What is compression moulding
Compression Molding is a method of molding in which the moulding material, generally preheated, is first placed in an open, heated mould cavity.
What is can be used in
Advanced composite thermoplastics can also be compression molded with unidirectional tapes, woven fabrics, randomly oriented fiber mat or chopped strand.
How compression moulding works
Compression Molding is a method of molding in which the moulding material preheated, is first placed in an open, heated mould cavity. Then advances to composite thermoplastics which also be compression molded with unidirectional tapes, woven fabrics and randomly oriented fiber mat or chopped strand.
What materials are used
The raw materials for compression molding are usually in the form of granules, putty-like masses, or preforms. They are first placed in an open, heated mold cavity to from into the mould which would be made to a specific mould
