BUS LANE

A

Used exclusively for public transport vehicles. If taxis are also indicated, they may also use the lane.

If lane is marked with continuous line =
Can only be crossed by vehicles permitted to drive in that lane

If lane is marked with broke white line: You can cross the line to TURN (yielding to the vehicles travelling in this lane)

A

The VAO lane, even if only occupied with driver, can also be used by:

*Person with reduced mobility sign (V-15)
*Buses with MAM over 3,500kg and articulated buses
*Zero Emission cars
*Cars with ECO, C or B environmental sticker
*Taxis

VAO Lane (High Occupancy Vehicle)

A

Can be used by:
*Cars, adaptable mixed vehicles, and motorcycles up to 3500kg and carrying the number of occupants indicated by the signage
*Priority emergency service vehicles
*Vehicles for people with reduced mobility

They cannot be used by:
*Lorries/Trucks or vehicles with trailers

Waiting Lane

A

At junctions with left turns, the waiting lane allows you to stop the vehicle until you can perform the manoeuvre.

Entry Slip Road

A

At the beginning of the lane, check if circumstances allow you to join the road safely. Stop if you need to then join the road at the adequate speed.

Exit Slip Road

A

Use the Exit Slip Road to leave the main carriageway.

Get in the lane closest to the exit and enter the slip road as soon as possible, reducing your speed once on the slip road.

A

Reversible, Additional, Opposite direction:

The first obligation is lighting, the second is speed, and the third is access restriction.

A

Usually located in a built-up area, they are marked by lane traffic lights and double dashed road markings.

Obligations: Headlights (dipped lights) DAY AND NIGHT

You Can: Overtake, Make Left Turns

You Cannot: Drive in the lane left of the reversible lane

(R) Additional Lane (O)

A

Two way roads with two lanes and hard shoulders. You can drive on the hard shoulder.

This lane can be used by all vehicles except those required to travel on the hard shoulder.

Obligations: Dipped lights day and night. Speed between 60-80km

You Cannot: Turn left or overtake

(RA) Opposite Lane

A

To improve traffic flow: can be used by cars without trailers and motorbikes (with/without sidecar)

In case of roadworks: all vehicles can use the opposite lane

Obligations: Dipped lights Day and Night, Speed between 60-80km

This lane does not allow: overtaking, moving to the side, turning left/right, or crossing the imaginary line formed by cones.

A

Allows leave sufficient space for the vehicle in front to brake suddenly, whether or not you intend to overtake.

If there is a vehicle close behind you, you must increase the clearance.

A minimum clearance of 100m

A

The clearance for facilitating overtaking does not apply:
*if within town limits
*places where overtaking is forbidden
*on motorways and dual carriageways
*on saturated roads

(Vehicles and combos weighing over 3500kg or longer than 10m must leave a clearance of at least 50m)

Speed Reduction

A

Before reducing your speed, make sure you can do so without risk and alert other drivers with the brake lights by pressing the break pedal at intervals (or with your arm)

Never reduce your speed suddenly.

*Cross with caution and reduce speed

*If the Barrier is moving, stop

*Obey stop signs or traffic lights - if there are no signs, only cross when you are sure a train is not approaching

(On bridges, vehicles with special authorisation to travel cannot cross if the road is less than 6m wide)

*Obey traffic lights, message panels and instructions given

*Prohibited to stop, park, make u-turns, overtake and travel in reverse

*Use corresponding lighting

Prohibited to overtake if there is only one lane each direction

Sporting Events and Cyclist Excursions

A

Cyclist excursions with more than 50 participants and sporting events must be authorised

*preceded by police office with red flag, ends with police officer with green flag. Traffic prohibited between them.

*Safety vehicle with drive 200 metres in front of first participant and another will travel behind with inscription “End of Race”
