Q

What is upstream vs. downstream regarding USB controller and USB?

A
  • The actual controller in the motherboard sends downstream commands to the USB device plugged in the computer via the USB cable.
  • Each controller is designed to fit different versions of USB.
  • Downstream means that something plugs into the computer.
  • Upstream means that something plugs into the device that wants to communicate with the computer.
