What are the types of USB connectors?
A
USB has only five valid connector types: Type A, Type B, Type C, Mini-, and Micro-USB.
A - the original type. You use it to plug into computers.
B - plugs into smaller devices. A weirder shape.
C - used for high speed data transfer, either direction it will work.
Mini-B - for video recorders and camera connections
Micro-B - skinny, more flat, used for Android phones

- 3.1 Gen 2, which is 10 gigabits per second (gbps)

What is upstream vs. downstream regarding USB controller and USB?

- The actual controller in the motherboard sends downstream commands to the USB device plugged in the computer via the USB cable.
- Each controller is designed to fit different versions of USB.
- Downstream means that something plugs into the computer.
- Upstream means that something plugs into the device that wants to communicate with the computer.
