What are the considerations for a nephrectomy?

Patient Factors
-Pre exisiting renal function, and consequence of resection?
- Cardiovascular / Resp Disease ?will tolerate laparoscopic and jack knife positioning
Anaemia - baseline, cause, pre optimisation
Cancer - mets,
Surgical
Tumour size, and extension - invasion into IVC
Approach and incision - analgesia requirements
Multiple teams involved
Anaesthesia
Large bore Access, Art Line
Group and Hold
Avoid Nephrotoxic
Will need post op pain relief - where possible offer regional.
Post op - depends on extent of resection and co-morbidities.
