A 62-year-old man presents to his GP complaining of increased urinary frequency and dysuria. He denies haematuria and is not currently sexually active. His observations are normal and urine dipstick is positive for nitrites and leukocytes and negative for blood. He has not previously had any UTIs.
What is the appropriate action?
A
send a urine culture and prescribe a 7 day course of trimethoprine
