What is perinephric fat?
Surrounds each kidney encapsulated by gerota fascia
What is paranephric fat?
Collection of adipose tissue located superficial to renal fascia
What is a renal calculus?
Kidney stones, pain, high temp, vomiting, blood in urine
What arteries supply the adrenal glands?
Superior adrenal artery
Inferior adrenal artery
Middle adrenal artery
What structures cross the ureter in males and females?
Males - Vas deferens
Females - Uterine arteries
What is the blood supply to the ureters?
Upper ureter - from renal arteries
Middle ureter - Iliac arteries and gonadal arteries
Distal ureter - internal iliac
What are the three points of ureter narrowing?
Uteropelvic junction
iliac vessels
Uterovesical junction with bladder
Why do the ureter enter the bladder prosterolaterally and pierce the bladder wall obliquely?
Creates a one way valve where intramural pressure collapses the ureters preventing back flow of the urine
