What are some solutions to Rio’s problems (4)
- The favela Bairro project has integrated favelas into the city (invested into them so they match the main city), 250,000 residents integrated
- Cable cars to reduce traffic
- Tighter laws
- Reduce sewage and improving plumbing infrastructure

In the 1980s there was a decline and male unemployment was up to 60%

- Post industrial economy plan- investment towards relocated businesses and brown field sites
- 20,000 houses improved to good standards
- 20,000 trees planted
- 759 hectares of London dockland used
How did regeneration take place in London (2)
- In the east end there was property led regeneration, in 1982 enterprise zones were made (areas with benefits to encourage businesses etc)
- Canary Wharf infrastructure improved-however this failed to meet housing and employment needs

The channel tunnel link connected the tunnel to London
What is the LTGDC and what has it done in London
London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, it specialised in social and sustainability regeneration
- 10,500 new homes and 5000 new jobs in 2012
- Created a 15,000m squared education area
What has the Olympic regeneration done in London
Created 4000 homes (athletes village), 1200 are ‘affordable’
How is unemployment being solved in London
Plans for jobs are being created,
