  • slums- 2/3 population in slums, poor conditions and facilities (toilets/ water/ electricity)
  • informal sector jobs- some scavenge for rubbish to sell because of a lack of formal jobs
  • health- no proper sewers and little clean water lead to diseases such as Cholera
  • waste disposal- as population increases, resource consumption increases, only 40% of rubbish officially collected
