1
Q

What are the signs and symptoms of a stall?

A

S - Speed decreasing

A- Attitude increasing

B - Buffet (2 types light / heavy )

I - Instability (flight no longer smooth)

Q

SSR - describe. How many phases? What do you do when?

A

Phase I -

Re-attach boundary layer

  1. AP/ AT OFF
  2. Nose down elevator (reduce AoA, STAB TRIM)
  3. Roll shortest way to W/L
  4. Power UP as needed
  5. Retract speedbrake

Phase II -

minimise altitude loss, return to normal flight condition

  1. Check speed, adjust Power
  2. Establish pitch ATT
  3. Return to desired flight condition
  4. AP/AT ON (if desired)

Q

Spin - what is it ? How do you recover?

A

Yaw-aggravated stall

  1. Throttle CLSD
  2. Flaps UP
  3. L/R - direction of spin
  4. Rudder - opposite
  5. Stick - neutral - progressively forward until spin stops
  6. Rudder - neutral
  7. W/L and climb away

Q

Incipient spin recovery - how do you recover?

A
  1. (Undemanded yaw)
  2. Controls - NEUTRAL
  3. Power - decrease
  4. Wait for a/c stability to kick in
  5. Roll to horizon (NRST)
  6. Climb away
  7. Power UP
