Q

What muscles are part of rotator cuff? what do they do?

Q

Rotator cuff muscle tears symptoms, cause and types?

A

symptoms include severe shoulder pain, intermittent, numbness and tingling, hard to lift things, restricted range of motion.

Cause is tendon is torn away from bone, most tears occur in supraspinatus tendon, other parts can be involved. Different types of tears:

  • Partial tear = also called incomplete tear. Damages the tendon but not completely sever it
  • Full-thickness tear- this type of tear is called complete tear, separates all of the tendon from bone

Q

What is the anatomical snuffbox? what 3 muscles make up it?

A

The anatomical snuffbox (AS) is the triangular depression on the dorsum of the hand at the base of the thumb. visible with ulnar deviation of the wrist and extension and abduction of the thumb

borders:
depression in wrist’s radial part, limited by the tendons of abductor longus muscle, extensor pollicis brevis and extensor pollicis longus muscles
