When do you urgently refer for stomach cancer?
Dyspagia or aged 55+ w weigth loss AND any one of
upper abdo pain
Reflux
Dyspepsia
Endoscoppy - look for mass consistent with stomach cancer
Criteria for non urgent referral stomach cancer
Haematemesis
55+ with
Treatment resistant dyspepsia
Upper abdo pain with low Hb levels or raised platelet count and any of the following
-N+V, weight loss, reflux, dyspepsia, upper abdo pain
Urgent referral for oesophageal cancers
Dyshpagia or 55+ and over weight loss and any of
-Upper abdo pain
-Refluc
-Dyspepsia
Ssymptoms suggestive of upper GI cancers
unexplained appetite, weight loss
Upper abdo mass consistent with enlarged gall bladder, liver, stomach cancer
weight loss, over 60 years with
Abdo pain or back pain, diabetes (new onset), diarrhoea or constipation
Jaundice, age 40 years over
N+V with weight loss, 60+
Dyspepsia, 55+
Dyspepsia, with raised platelet or N+V, 55+
Dysphagia
Haematemesis
Haemoglobin levels low with upper abdo pain, 55+
Raised platelet count + other symptoms
What upper GI cancers have US as first investgiation?
Liver and gallbladder
What upper GI cancers have endoscopy and biopsy as first line investigation?
Stomach, oesophageal
Classic oeophageal presentation cancer
Dysphagia, pain, acid reflux, loss of appetitie, loss of weight, anaemia
Pancreatic cancer presentation
Pain, loss of appetite, weight loss
Lesions near head of pancreas -> obstructive jaundice
Stomach cancer presentation
Dysphagia, pain, acid refluc, loss of appetitie, weigjt loss, anaemia - overlap with stomach cancer
Gallbladder cancer presentation
Pain + jaundice
