Upper extremity HVLA Flashcards
Shoulder Tart
Shoulder height, angle of scapula (using thumbs under), spine of scapula if lines up, shoulder position in saggital plane (look sagittaly)
Shoulder tart
Palpate glenohumeral, SC, AC joints. Do myofascial of Traps, deltoids, pectoralis, rhomboids (under traps on back side)
Glenohumeral joint range of motion
Flexion 180, extension 180, Abduction 180, horizontal adduction 40-50, horizontal abduction,40-55 internal rotation 90, external rotation 90
Glenohumeral SD BLT
They lateral recumbent facing you, top hand thumb and index web above glenohumeral, other hand grab their elbow right above their body, abduct the elbow till you feel relaxation int hat joint, then check flexion extension and internal external, compress and distract, put them into position of ease, then have them do breathing to get sense of relaxation
SC Joint evaluation Abduction/adduction
They supine you above them, they shrug shoulders up, then shrug downwards. Look for weird movements at the sc joint
SC Joint evaluation flexion extension
They supine you above them, they put hands up, reach for ceiling, then lowers hands back towards table.
SC Elevated/Adducted SD Articulatory
They supine you above them, both hands on sc joint with thumb on sternal end, they inhale and on exhale push down
SC Joint articulatory- Clavicle anterior and superior glide
Get contralateral, they supine, their near hand grab opposite elbow, you lean over grab opposite end of table and with near hand springing down on medial end of clavicle
SC Elevated/Adducted SD MET
They supine, you on close side, you grab their wrist off table and other hand on sc joint, they try raise arm, then relax and you push down with both arms into new barrier.
SC Horizontal Extension SD Met
They supine, they put their arm on your shoulder, you put one hand on their clavicle other behind their shoulder, have them pull down, then relax, then you pull up MET.
SC Elevated/Adducted SD Still technique
They sitting on end of table, one hand around their neck to have thumb on bad clavicle, other hand grab elbow, slight extension and abduction with elbow, Compress towards sc joint with elbow, then bring elbow up and back around in a loop
SC Depressed/abducted SD Still technique
They sitting on end of table, one hand around their neck to have thumb on bad clavicle, other hand grab elbow, slight extension and abduction with elbow, Compress towards sc joint with elbow, then bring elbow up and anterior around in a loop
Sternoclavicular SD HVLA
They supine, bring their arm up hold it against your body, other hand pushing down sc joint, so you pulling up on arm and pushing down on sc joint. Adduction SD: inferior thrust, Extension SD: Posterior thrust
AC Joint diagnosis
Look if distal clavicle is elevated, palpate for step off and tenderness tta, cross arm adduction test, spring on distal clavicle, spring anterior to posterior
AC Joint Seperated SD Still technique
They steaded, you in front of them, one hand on ac joint, other grab their wrist, abduct their arm sideways apply traction, then pull arm across their body.
