T spine rib Flashcards
Steps for hvla
(Consider techniques to relax overlying myofascial structures) Engage restrictive barrier, patient breathing, thrust
Thoracic prone pressure
Stand on opposite side, put palms on paraspinals opposite, press down to create a stretch
Lower thoracic under shoulder lateral recombent
They lateral recumbent. you facing them, put their arm in between your hands, then pull up on their paraspinals higher side.
T spine Supine HVLA (Kirksville crunch)
They supine, fold hands over their front, hand , arm on side of ptp goes most cephalad of the two, one hand press elbows towards you so their opposite back exposed, other hand rech under to grab the ptp with thenar eminence (palm), then release the hand from elbows to move to cradle their head and sidebend it to opposite of the segment sidebent, do breathing then with chest press down. If they extended then you flex their head with hand.
Prone HVLA (texas Twist
They prone, stand opposite the ptp, thenar eminence on ptp so fingers pointed down (if you want to sidebend them to right), other hand on side closer to you, then doing a twisting motion, breath in, couple breaths, on last exhalation you thrust maintaining your arms fairly straight and bend at your waist. If you need to sidebend them left, your farther hand is pointed up.
Supine knee fulcrum hvla: upper and middle thoracic
They supine, you put your knee underneath their back so neck is up, they fold hands and put behind kneck, you come in between his arms and get ahold on the side of the ribs, pull their ribs up and towards your thigh, then thrust.
Seated direct technique type 1 vs type 2
They hold neck one hand, hold elbow with other hand, then for type 1 go over 1 bicep, for type 2 go over both biceps
Seated lower T spine HVLA
They seated at end of table facing middle of table, they in seated direct technique form, you behind them and over the correct amount of biceps, one hand on ptp, and moving with them and thrusting with lower hand.
Seated knee fulcrum hvla
They seated at end of table facing middle of table, you bring stool to end of table, they put hands behind their head on their neck, you bring your arms around their arms and grab their wrists, put foot on stool knee on back, they do breathing then pull them back onto knee.
Seated rib 1-2 inhalation SD, Exhalation emphasis hvla
They seated on table, you behind put your leg up on table, they drape arm over your leg, other side hand put mcp around neck, other hand sidebend head towards your hand and rotate away, with hand on rib push inferiorrly and medially, thrust in a J direction with rib hand NOT HEAD HAND
Upper ribs 1-4 HVLA (Chin pivot)
They prone, monitor the rib on opposite sidewith one hand, other hand sidebend their opposite elbow away from rib, drop your thenar eminence on that rib, other hand onto their ear and have them look towards the rib, so sidebent away rotate towards the rib. Thrust is with hand on the rib.
Ribs 3-10 Inhalation SD, Exhalation emphasis
(ON INFERIOR PART OF RIB ANGLE)They supine, hands crossed over front so elbows are on top, pull them back to slip one hand under back onto the spot, lean onto their elbow with your chest, other hand grab their head, breathing then thrust
Ribs 3-10 Exhalation SD, Inhalation emphasis
(ON SUPERIOR PART OF RIB ANGLE)They supine, hands crossed over front so elbows are on top, pull them back to slip one hand under back onto the spot, lean onto their elbow with your chest, other hand grab their head, breathing then thrust
Same side SD HVLA
Modified Kirksville crunch
They prone with elbows up arms crossed, be on the side of protruded rib angle, move them over at elbows to expose ribs, find rib, then do breathing thrust
