Varus & Valgus Stress Test for
collateral ligament instability
For the Varus & Valgus Stress Test, at what position should the elbow be in?
20 -30 degree flexion
Positive Varus & Valgus Test would indicate
Pain at the collateral ligament or instability
Cozen’s Test aka
Method 1 for lateral epicondylitis
Mill’s Test aka
Method 2 for lateral epicondylitis
For Cozen’s Test have the patient
make a fist, pronate forearm, extend wrist, radially deviate wrist
After instructing the PT to move the forearm into a certain position for a COZEN’S Test, what is the next step?
1 - Stabilize the elbow @ 110 degrees
2 - Push on wrist to move it into flexion, ask pt to resist
When is the Cozen’s Test positive?
Pain @ lateral epicondyle

For the Mill’s Test have the patient
make a fist, pronate the forearm, keep wrist straight
After instructing the PT to move the forearm into a certain position for a MILL’S Test, what is the next step?
Try to move wrist into Flexion, have the patient resist the motion
When is the Mill’s Test positive?
Pain at the lateral epicondyle
May also stress radial nerve and compression of it may be similar to tennis elbow.
