What is the Impingement Syndrome?
Rotator cuff (SITS) muscular imbalance => RSI RESULTS
a) subacromial thickening
b) swollen supraspinatus tendon attachment.
Secondary impingement is due to:
Problems with muscle dynamics involving
• gleno-humoral articulation
• scapulo-thoracic articulation
What age group is affected with Secondary Impingement Syndrome?
15 - 35 YO
In secondary impingement, the signs are a secondary result of :
altered MUSCLE DYNAMICS
i.e. underlying INSTABILITY issue
Posterior impingement d/t
i.e. baseball, overhead throwing
NOT a general population issue
When testing for this ailment, what should you consider?
Selecting a test which is reproducing

Dx - Primary Impingement can involve?
Bi Syndrome:
• Cold Bi
• Bone Bi
Dx - Secondary Impingement can involve?
- LV Qi Stagnation
* SP Blood Def.
Tx of Primary Impingement syndrome
Acupuncture can only control Pain & Irritation but can not treat Primary Impingement well.
For Bi-Syndrome: dispel Bi
Tx of Secondary Impingement syndrome
- Shoulder Balancing @ Joint-level (SITS IZ)
- SI 3, 9(TM), 10 (IS), 11(IS), 14(LS)
- LI 4, 10, 15, 16
- LU7
- TW14
- GB21
