Unit Two - Analogical Induction Flashcards
Analogical induction
a form of inductive reasoning where we infer
the presence of a relevant property in a target individual from this individual sharing compared properties with other sample individuals, and these sample individuals having the relevant property.
relevant property
the feature that is of interest in a case of analogical
induction.
target individual
the individual which possesses the compared
properties and about which an analogical induction is drawing a conclusion.
compared properties
are properties shared by both the target individual
and the sample individuals, and which pertain to the relevant property.
sample individuals
are one or more individuals who possess the relevant
property and the compared properties.
